Pictures taken during Kings Peak Summit, August 18th to 21st, 2005
Backpack trip began at Henry's Fork Campground where we car-camped the first night. The next morning, we headed off on a 3.5 hour, 7+ mile back pack trek to Dollar Lake where we set up camp for the second night. Up an 4:00 a.m. day 3, we fueled ourselves and headed for the summit. We made the summit by 10:00 a.m. took a nice break, had a snack and enjoyed the view. Ominous clouds in the horizon along with my feeling some altitude sickness soon told us it was time for descent. Back down at the lake camp, we reflected on the hike and spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing. That evening presented some beautiful views of the lake and sunset. What a reward. The morning of day 4, we broke camp, backpacked out, (only 3 hours back) and headed for home. With me on the trip was my brother Steve, his wife Andrea and Son Jacob all seen in some shots below. Amazingly camped next to us and who made the ascent behind us was a group from the Utah Cancer Survivors. One of their members who did not make the hike, did fly-by's of the peak in an airplane.
